KIGALI, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda's economy grew by 11.8 percent in the third quarter of 2025, up from the 7.8 percent in the second quarter and the 6.5 percent in the first quarter, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) on Tuesday.

The upward trend was attributable to robust performances across various sectors, where services grew by 10 percent, industry increased by 17 percent, and agriculture rose by 10 percent, said the NISR.

NISR Director General Ivan Murenzi said the growth across sectors supports the country's overall industrial development.

The country's gross domestic product amounted to more than 5,525 billion Rwandan francs (about 3.8 billion U.S. dollars) in the third quarter, up from 4,659 billion Rwandan francs in the same quarter of 2024, according to the NISR.

The data also showed that within the agricultural sector, export crop production saw the largest increase of 35 percent, driven by an increase in coffee output and tea production.

In the industrial sector, the main contributors to growth were mining and quarrying, construction and manufacturing activities.

Within the service sector, the largest contributor to the economy, wholesale and retail trade increased by 20 percent while transport services increased by 9 percent.
