MILAN, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- More than 1.27 million tickets have been sold for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, with an average occupancy rate of 85 percent across all competition sessions held so far, organizers said on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference to mark the Games' halfway point, Andrea Varnier, CEO of the Milan-Cortina Foundation, said ticketing remains a key factor for the success of the Games.
"The average occupancy rate has reached 85 percent across all sessions," Varnier said. Among venues, Bormio, Milan and Antholz-Anterselva are currently the most popular, according to organizers.
In terms of disciplines, ski mountaineering tickets are currently completely sold out. Speed skating and ski jumping are also among the most popular events so far.
Varnier also highlighted the Games' digital performance. The Milan-Cortina 2026 digital platforms have registered 46 million reaches, with three million interactions.
At the global level, the Olympics social media channels have recorded a record-breaking 7.4 billion engagements, underscoring unprecedented international attention, he added.
During the conference, Chief Games Operations Officer Andrea Francisi also reported positive feedback from athletes staying in the Olympic villages. According to the Games operations team, village hospitality and catering services have been widely appreciated, particularly the "Italian style" food experience concept branded as "food for fuel." ■
