DHAKA, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Tarique Rahman said on Saturday that China has long been regarded as an important development partner of Bangladesh and expressed hope that the two countries will continue to work together for common development.
Tarique Rahman made the remarks while answering a question from Xinhua at a news briefing.
Bangladesh held its national parliament election on Thursday. According to the official results announced by the Election Commission on Friday, the BNP won the election.
Tarique Rahman, the son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, is expected to become the prime minister of the new government. ■
