SHANGHAI, June 19, (Xinhua) -- With over 420 films now showing in rotation at 47 cinemas citywide, the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival is in full swing. It is those historic theatres, steeped in the city's film heritage, that lend the deepest layers of meaning to this celebration of cinema.
These historic Shanghai cinemas are exploring "movie+" models -- offering films paired with creative merchandise, exhibitions, and dining -- while also running art education activities outside showtimes. All of this gives the public much richer offline experiences beyond the screen.
