MOSCOW, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom announced Tuesday the completed construction of the Siberian Circular Photon Source (SKIF), the country's first fourth-generation synchrotron radiation source.
Located in Koltsovo near Novosibirsk, SKIF operates at an energy of three gigaelectronvolts and will provide powerful X-ray beams for cutting-edge research in fields including physics, chemistry, materials science and biology.
Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the opening ceremony and said the project had made Russia stronger by enhancing the country's technological capabilities and technological sovereignty. ■
