BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's national housing projects are now using modern construction technologies and adopting the Industrialized Building System (IBS) as one of the requirements, according to the Ministry of Development.
Speaking during a Legislative Council meeting on Tuesday, Minister of Development Haji Muhammad Juanda Abdul Rashid said the adoption of IBS would help improve construction quality while shortening construction periods.
He added that the system could also reduce construction material wastage and resource use at construction sites.
The minister said modern construction technologies have the potential to reduce carbon emissions, improve construction efficiency and contribute to more sustainable housing in the long term. ■
