BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Brunei has recorded an increase in electric vehicle (EV) registrations, with EVs accounting for 2.8 percent of vehicle registrations from January to June 2026, compared with just 0.7 percent in 2025, a government minister said on Monday.

Speaking during a Legislative Council meeting, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Mohammed Riza Haji Mohd Yunos said the ministry recognizes the need to progressively develop charging infrastructure to support the growing number of EV users.

The minister said as of July 23, 2026, there were 22 charging facility locations with 40 charging points throughout the country.
