YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- The 2026 Indonesia-China Local Governments Dialogue was held Tuesday in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia, bringing together nearly 200 representatives from local governments, businesses, universities and friendship organizations of the two countries.
Jointly hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the Chinese Consulate General in Surabaya, the United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific, and the Yogyakarta city government, the event saw the attendance of representatives from 27 local governments and 18 enterprises across 12 Chinese provincial-level regions.
CPAFFC President Yang Wanming said that over the years, friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Indonesian peoples have continued to deepen, and local government cooperation has yielded fruitful results, bringing tangible benefits to local communities.
Yang called on local governments from the two sides to focus on practical cooperation, deepen cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen multilateral platforms to promote coordinated regional development.
Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on governance, poverty reduction, practical cooperation, cultural exchanges, and local administration.
They also explored new avenues for cooperation, shared experiences in city-to-city exchanges, signed several cooperation documents and issued a joint initiative.
Participants agreed that local cooperation provides strong support for the development of bilateral relations, pledging to carry forward the traditional friendship, deliver more practical cooperation outcomes and contribute to building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future. ■
