BEIRUT, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two Lebanese citizens were wounded on Tuesday when an Israeli drone struck an ambulance team in the southern city of Nabatieh, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said.

The ministry's emergency center said the strike was carried out in two successive attacks. The second attack targeted an ambulance team from the Islamic Risala Scouts that had arrived at the scene to evacuate the two wounded, damaging the ambulance.

Earlier local reports said Israeli drones had targeted ambulances operated by the Islamic Health Organization, Bayt al-Talaba, and the Islamic Risala Scouts as they were transporting a casualty from an earlier strike on a car in Nabatieh's Universities neighborhood.

The ministry condemned what it called Israel's continued targeting of ambulance teams, saying such actions constituted a violation of international humanitarian law and norms.

The incident came amid continued Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire framework intended to end hostilities and facilitate the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.
