SYDNEY, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Kiribati President Taneti Maamau extended the warmest greetings and best wishes to the Chinese government and people, as well as the Chinese community residing in the Pacific island country, for a peaceful, prosperous and successful Chinese New Year.
"Kiribati highly values its long-standing friendship with the People's Republic of China," said Maamau during a reception recently held in Kiribati's capital city of Tarawa to mark the upcoming Chinese New Year.
China's aid in infrastructure, health, education, human resources and technical cooperation positively impacts Kiribati's people, showing China's genuine support for the country's development goals, he added.
Maamau said that Kiribati reiterates its unwavering support for the one-China policy, and it remains committed to working closely with China to advance bilateral cooperation in pursuit of a shared future and common development for both countries and peoples. ■
