DUSHANBE, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and visiting Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held talks in Dushanbe on Friday, during which a package of bilateral cooperation documents was signed.
The two sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, the Tajik presidential press service said in a release.
A series of cooperation agreements was signed in the fields of civil aviation, agriculture, tourism, science and education, culture, sports and climate change. The two countries also signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, aimed at facilitating practical cooperation and expanding ties across various sectors.
The two sides emphasized the importance of activating political dialogue, expanding inter-parliamentary relations, and strengthening the role of parliamentary diplomacy in bilateral relations, and the Tajik side expressed interest in expanding cooperation in areas such as the green economy, industry, and technological innovation, including artificial intelligence.
The Tajik side also expressed confidence that the outcomes of the talks would inject new impetus into the development of bilateral relations across the board. ■
