JAKARTA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia aims to restore 15,000 hectares of degraded ecosystems in 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen environmental conservation, an official said on Monday.
The effort will prioritize degraded areas to restore their ecological functions, including Tesso Nilo National Park in Riau, critical peatlands, and coastal mangrove forests, said Satyawan Pudyatmoko, director general of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation at the Indonesian Forestry Ministry.
This year's target is part of a broader conservation roadmap across Indonesia. In the longer term, the government aims to restore more than 12 million hectares of degraded land inside and outside state forest areas by 2030. ■
